I give up on fixing everything. I bought a new dehumidifier for the basement.

In the instructions: "Do not operate with wet hands or in a damp environment."

Tell him not to hold his breath. If dehumidifiers can only dehumidify dry basements, then I feel perfectly justified looking for a shipping service that doesn't deliver.
