(counterpoint to [livejournal.com profile] jdhorner's "I love this weather" post)

I still haven't finished raking. These are the times when I wish my yard were a bit smaller.

Although I did finish raking the most densely-covered section on Saturday, and Chris (bless his adorable heart) helped me haul all the leaves to the kerb just as the snow/sleet started falling.

Then Sunday it turned to pouring rain and fog. I drove to Detroit to see a play with my friend Christine. My fingers fell asleep from gripping the steering wheel so tightly, but I was determined not to be late, so sane driving was out of the question.

About 15 minutes after the play started, I called Christine to ask WTF, and it turned out that she wrote the address down wrong. She was a few blocks up the street looking for it. It was going to be a 2 hour 15 minute play though, so I wasn't too upset. We just had dinner instead.

On the way home, the rain had slowed and the fog had cleared, but there were some power outages. One of the things I like about driving in certain parts of Detroit is that traffic lights are optional - when they are working. However, when they are not working, there's nothing even remotely orderly about what happens. It seems the custom is that the street that's usually the busiest just pretends that there never even was a traffic light there. However, I don't drive there often enough to always know which street that is. So it felt like I was playing GTA or something, except with a real car. And except I didn't steal anything or kill anybody, AFAIK.

Yeah, our weather is much the same! It's been freezing rain / rain / snow here for a few days now. Needless to say it's very messy on the roads. And sidewalks.

Here in TO, the city won't collect leaves after Nov. 30 because they are broke.

It snowed here on Saturday. Much bad driving abound.

Now, its raining and warmish. But, its flooding here. To the point where a car was in the middle of the industrial parking lot, and probably floating.

So, you know what? Fuck off.

I take a great deal of pleasure in knowing that the weather there is as bad as, or worse than, the weather here :-D
