Frist Reverses Himself, Pushes Bolton Vote

Ok, in and of itself, I don't find this unusual. But this quote hit me -

"Talking to reporters in the White House driveway after he joined other GOP lawmakers for a luncheon with Bush, Frist said: 'The president made it very clear that he expects an up or down vote.'"

Clearly, the Legislative branch has been almost entirely under the control of the Executive for the last few years. But I've never seen it so openly acknowledged.

Hahahah...I thought about that! I've been trying so hard not to dredge stuff like that up though. Not necessarily for LJ stuff, just as a habit for political discourse in general. Since most people seem to have memories that go back about 5 minutes, I try to focus on "hey, look what's happening now! now! and now!"

Not everybody that I talk about this stuff with is as bright as my lj buddies :-P

Frist was placed in his position of Majority Leader by Bush, i remember the press made this very clear; usually a Senator is promoted from within the Senate itself, not so in Frist's case - he was specifically placed to do the bidding of Bush. Frist defines the word, Puppet.

there is so much of this sort of shit of Bush's doing now, though, that it hardly seems even worth mentioning any more. Checks and Balances, anyone?
