hehehe...I don't remember it, but I don't doubt it for a second. Which episode?

I don't remember exactly. Lisa was listing people for some reason and she said, "Justice David Souter" and Homer said, "oohhh! Not Souter!!"

hehehehe....did you see the Family Guy where Stewie used that phrase?

But yeah, anyway. This decision made my head swim. I feel like it's so un-American. Ownership of property is supposed to be such a huge source of security in our society. Right or wrong, we count on it. I'm so pleased that one of the justices might face real consequences from their decision.

Thomas Paine originally said "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Property"

That was Locke, not Paine. Jefferson added the happiness bit.

On property, Paine said:

"Men did not make the earth. It is the value of the improvements only, and not the earth itself, that is individual property. Every proprietor owes to the community a ground rent for the land which he holds."

Also, Paine was anti-slavery at a time when slavery was considered a property right.

LOCKE!

... I knew there was some error to my statement when I went back to respond again. Thought I could, er, ah... gloss over. ;)

Chalk me into that group of people that mixes up important figures they learned in AP US History. ...even though my focus was and IS colonial america.
