epiphany

I was recently ruminating on the slow progress of the house. (Although "slow" is subjective and narrow - when I look at the progress over the last 1.3 years I'm quite pleased.) Anyway, I was ruminating over how slowly it's going, and I thought "hey buddy, what's the rush?" (don't worry, I only call myself buddy, like, ironically and stuff).

What a sane question! I'm trying to hold on to it, but it slips away easily. The reality is, if in five years I'm still in the same house and it's in the same condition, I'll still have plenty of time to keep working on this one or to find me a new one. If I'm lucky, I'm less than halfway through life. That is at the same time a "duh" moment and a profound realization, b/c I'm not used to thinking about things that way at all.
